2.8.2016/ I went for a walk in my refuge at Turvey here in north county Dublin and what a place, it was early morning and had just stopped raining so off I went, as I started my walk my camera and my mind were in macro mode so I walked very slowly through the reserve and as I went through a wooded area I came across these fellows, there were a good few flying around and each time I tried to get a photo they would instantly fly away, so I stood still, very still for a good while and waited until they got used to my presence and sure enough they started to land that bit closer to me and as this fella landed in the tall grass I walked or should I say crept very slowly, I had to get as close as I could to get the detail so I leaned forward with my camera closer and closer and tok this photograph and just as I took it off it flew, no matter I checked and was chuffed with the photo, I went home to my studio printed the photo and started to paint, it took a good while but here is the result and I must say it makes me very happy just to look at it and remember that beautiful morning in Turvey, I always say thanks to Mr David O Brien the neurosurgeon who saved my life and I will never let him down for his effort and his genius will never be wasted as long as there is life in me to portray the beauty that surrounds us, Thank you Mr O Brien in Beaumont Hospital.
